Tanzanite Jewelry
Tanzanite is a relatively modern discovery to the
world of jewelry, found in Tanzania in the 1960s. It's
an unusual jewel, being a deep blue or blue-purple variety
of a rather dull mineral called zoisite.
Naturally occuring tanzanite is extremely rare, as
the zoisite has to be exposed to extremely high temperatures
to change it from the base mineral form to something
suitable for use in jewelry, and this typically only
happens with exposed deposits of zoisite that have been
exposed to bush fires. As a result, the tanzanite
features here has been carefully heat treated for the
perfect color.
